Hamodia was founded nearly 100 years ago in Eastern Europe with the active support of the foremost Haredi leaders who were battling rising assimilation that threatened the very foundations of their heritage. They saw a newspaper as a powerful tool in this struggle for survival.

In the aftermath of the destruction of these communities at the hands of the Nazis, Hamodia became the voice of the unbowed Torah-true community struggling to rebuild itself on different continents. Hamodia's growth paralleled the incredible resurgence of a vibrant Orthodox community in Israel and America. The daily Hebrew-language edition emerged as the leading publication for the religious community in Israel since 1950. In 1998, the English-language weekly Hamodia was launched to serve the growing Orthodox Jewish community in America, Israel and Europe and it quickly rose to prominence. A French language edition of Hamodia was launched at the end of 2007.

Today, Hamodia is the undisputed market leader: a respected publication that reaches hundreds of thousands of Jewish households worldwide through its weekly editions.
